Signing NDA’s is part and parcel of how we access jobs. They come in all shapes and sizes – sometimes 20 pages and more. Many of us don’t bother to read them and just sign them on a wing and a prayer in the hope that there won’t be any problems.
What we are doing here is signing legal agreements which for example may be instructing us to destroy all materials relating to the job after delivery. However, if there is a dispute later on about our competence or otherwise how can we defend ourselves if we no longer have any evidence? How might such instructions effect our professional indemnity insurance? What about all the terminology queries on online networks that we made in order to research the job – can we/ should we wipe those clean?
Many of us don’t bother to read NDA’s and nor do some project managers! We are professional people who have absolutely no idea what we’ve signed! Some of us will only read them when it’s too late following a complaint about our work.
This will be an interactive workshop and Sue will provide advice and guidelines on common NDA clauses. She is also offering free 30 minute advice sessions to all attendees after the workshop either FTF or by Skype.
