Organizer, Events

All BP Translation Conferences and other BP events are organized by B+B Mezzofanti Bt., a partnership registered in Budapest, Hungary (Registered seat: Széchenyi utca 8., Budapest 1054, Hungary; VAT ID: HU28523727), hereinafter referred to as the Organizer or ‘we’ or ‘us’.

Individual events take place on the dates and at times disclosed on this website (BPconf.com).  For each event these terms will be updated with specific information as soon as tickets are available.

Tickets for BP Translation Conference and other BP events are available on this website.

Taxation

Prices of tickets and other items are listed without Value Added Tax (VAT).

For all offline events (and for physical attendance of hybrid events), VAT at the local rate is payable on the top of the actual ticket price in the cases outlined below. (I.e. the place of supply is the country where the offline event takes place.)

Since BP22 Translation Conference will take place in Portugal, the Portuguese VAT rate of 23% applies, and this VAT amount is payable on top of all prices indicated on this website.

For all online events (and for remote attendance of hybrid events), VAT at the Hungarian rate (27%) is payable on the top of the actual ticket price in the cases outlined below. (I.e. the place of supply is Hungary.)

You will need to pay VAT (i) if you purchase your ticket as an individual, no matter where you live; (ii) if you purchase your ticket as a company based in the country corresponding to the place of supply.

You don’t have to pay VAT (iii) if you purchase your ticket as a business based in any other member state of the European Union outside the country corresponding to the place of supply AND you have a valid VAT ID that exists in the EU’s VIES database; (iv) if you purchase your ticket as a business based outside the European Union. In this case it’s your responsibility to comply with your own country’s tax regulations. In some countries it’s sufficient to state that you’re an individual entrepreneur after your name.

Payment

Registration for any BP event is completed once the ticket price is paid in full.

For payment, you may choose any of the following options: (a) direct bank transfer, (b) Wise (formerly TransferWise), (c) Stripe (for bank card payments), and (d) PayPal.

If you live in the EU, a direct bank transfer (SEPA transfer) may be the easiest/cheapest option.  Wise is a cheaper alternative, but this option works only between different currencies. OOur Wise account is in HUF, so you can transfer funds from your Wise account if it’s denominated in any other currency, such as EUR, GBP, or USD.  Please note that we offer a 3% discount for payments by bank transfer and Wise.

If you live outside the EU, payment by your Visa or MasterCard (using Stripe as a card processor) is probably cheaper.

If you choose to pay using your PayPal balance, you’ll be directed to PayPal, and you can finish your payment there.  Please note that in this case there’s a 3% surcharge.

All prices published on this website are provided with the assumption that you pay by card. As mentioned above, a 3% discount applies for bank transfer and Wise transfer, and a 3% surcharge is applied for PayPal payments.

Bank details and other information to perform the wire transfer or Wise transfer will be provided on a pro forma invoice in a confirmation email once you submit your order.  Make sure you include your 5-digit order number (NOT the number of the pro forma invoice) in the comment field.

For each event we may publish a payment calendar, clearly indicating the times and dates of any price increases, as well as a closing date of the registration process.

Invoices

Due to local (Hungarian) taxation regulations in force, you will receive up to three different types of documents with your purchase.

If you pay with your bank card using Stripe, or from your PayPal balance, you will automatically receive an ‘order receipt‘ in an e-mail: this is basically an email to acknowledge your order.  A ‘deposit invoice‘ will be sent automatically from our invoicing system from another e-mail account.  This deposit invoice is almost like an actual invoice, but since you will receive the purchased service only at a later time, the ‘final invoice’ cannot be dated earlier than the Event.

You will receive this final invoice after the Event. This final invoice will list all the purchased items with a positive sign, the amount already paid with a negative sign, as well as the final payable balance (i.e. zero).

If you pay via bank transfer or Wise, first you automatically receive an ‘order receipt‘: this is basically an email to acknowledge your order. A ‘pro forma invoice‘ will be sent automatically from our invoicing system. This pro forma invoice lists all the items purchased and indicates the bank account details where you send the purchase amount.  The funds are supposed to arrive within 5 days.  If the funds are not received within 7 days, you will receive a reminder.  If the funds are not received within 10 days, your order will be cancelled.

Once the funds are credited on our bank account, you’ll receive a ‘deposit invoice‘ – this has to be processed manually. From this point on the process is identical with the one for bank cards / PayPal as described above.

For each event we may publish additional information on invoicing.

Cancellation policy & Refunds

Since March 2020 we all learned the hard way that entire events may have to be cancelled, even in the last minute. For this reason now we have a detailed cancellation policy for all eventualities.

Physical attandance tickets

Up to 45 days before the event: If you cannot attend the event (BP22 Translation Conference) for personal reasons, you can request a full refund (minus a 30€ handling fee) up to 45 days before the event (i.e. 25 March 2022).

You may also request a downgrade to a ‘Remote  Pro’ attendance ticket, in which case you will be refunded the difference between the amount you paid and the price of the ‘Remote Pro’ ticket at the time of requesting the refund.

Up to 15 days before the event: You can request a 50% refund (minus a 30€ handling fee) up to 15 days before the event (i.e. 24 April).

You may also request a downgrade to a ‘Remote  Pro’ attendance ticket, in which case you will be refunded the difference between 50% of the amount you paid and the price of the ‘Remote Pro’ ticket at the time of requesting the refund.  (Example: You purchased a ‘Lisbon Pro’ ticket in January for 400€ and you wish to downgrade to a ‘Remote Pro’ ticket on 20 April, and a ‘Remote Pro’ ticket costs 120€ on this day, you will receive a refund of 200€-120€ = 80€, and you can still attend the event remotely.)

If you must cancel your physical attendance due to COVID-19 (you contracted the disease, your flight was cancelled, or your country is listed ‘red’ and you’re supposed to isolate yourself after entering into Portugal),  you will be refunded the difference between the full amount you paid and the price of the ‘Remote Pro’ ticket at the time of informing us about this situation. (Using the above example, you’d receive 400€-120€=280, and you can still attend the event remotely.)  In all of the above cases you’ll need to back up your request with copies of the necessary documents.

Up to 4 days before the event: (by midnight CEST on Thursday, 5 May) If you must cancel your physical attendance due to COVID-19 (you contracted the disease, your flight was cancelled, or your country is listed ‘red’ and you’re supposed to isolate yourself after entering into Portugal),  you will be refunded the difference between the full amount you paid and the price of the ‘Remote Pro’ ticket at the time of informing us about this situation. (Using the above example, you’d receive 400€-120€=280, and you can still attend the event remotely.)  In all of the above cases you’ll need to back up your request with copies of the necessary documents.

If you need to cancel your physical attendance for other reasons, you’ll be downgraded to a ‘Remote Pro’ ticket, and you’ll be able to use the difference between 50% of the amount you paid and the price of the ‘Remote Pro’ ticket at the time of requesting the refund as a credit towards attendance at any future BP events.

During the last 4 days before event: (after midnight CEST, Thursday, 5 May)   No refunds will be paid for any reason, but you’ll still have all the access details for attending the event remotely, so you’ll end up with a ‘Remote Pro’ ticket.

If the event cannot be held physically

If the event cannot be held physically due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will automatically switch to an online platform.

In this case all physical attendance tickets will be downgraded to ‘Remote Pro’ tickets, and you will be refunded the difference between the full amount you paid and the price of the ‘Remote Pro’ ticket at the time of the decision to cancel the physical event.

Remote attendance tickets

Up to 20 days before event (midnight CEST, 19 April), you may cancel your remote attendance at BP22. You will receive a full refund of the amount you paid for your ticket (minus a 30€ handling fee).

After this time, no refunds will be paid on remote attendance tickets.

Video collections

Purchases of access to our video collections cannot be refunded.

Processing refunds

To inform us of your refund request, please write us an email, stating ‘Refund request’ in the subject line.  Please include your bank account details, including the bank account holder’s name and address, your account’s IBAN number and your bank’s name and BIC code.

Individual requests will be handled within 2 weeks. In case the physical event has to be cancelled and we’ll need to deal with a large number of refunds, processing the refunds may take up to 8 weeks.

Miscellaneous

If an online or an offline event cannot take place due to the Organizer’s fault, you will receive a full refund of your original purchase amount within 60 days f the scheduled starting date of such event.

If an online event cannot take place due to force majeure, we will do all reasonable attempts to hold such event at a later date, within a reasonable period of time.

Payments to hotel rooms at Lisbon Ramada can be refunded by the hotel up to 72 hours before the event starts (or your scheduled arrival time, whichever comes first) if you must cancel your booking due to COVID-19 (contracting the disease, or your country becomes listed as ‘red’).   We cannot be held responsible for any refunds or any payment disputes between the hotel and you.

Flight tickets and other transport tickets: Please check the cancellation policy of your airline or transport company. Many airlines offer COVID-19-related insurance at a small surcharge.  We cannot be held responsible for any refunds or any payment disputes between your airline or transport company and you.
