No one is immune from the stress of the current global pandemic.
I will present sensible, do-able tips, from reputable sources, that anyone can use, for staying physically healthy.
For example: I’ll present ways to exercise indoors with limited space and no equipment, share suggestions for exercising with your friends online, organizing challenges with friends and family, and list groups to join, as well as supply many links to different resources.
As for eating healthy, I’ll focus on nutrition and cooking.
With food supplies fairly disrupted thus far, we can maintain good nutrition with a little planning and creativity.
I will show that since we have to eat every day and most of us now have to cook every day, instead of a dreaded chore, healthy cooking can become a teaching tool or bonding experience if you have kids; if you have a partner, a way to show kindness and caring for each other; if you are alone, a welcome mental challenge with endless recipes available. And for everyone it can be an outlet for creativity, and can even be meditative and relaxing. (Bread, anyone?)
I’ll also present simple, concrete steps anyone can take toward staying emotionally grounded and maintaining your relationships in these trying times.
These issues will be detailed in the presentation, but will focus on three things:
First, those who have a mental condition, how to gear up for this unusual time in history,
Second, recognizing signs of emotional problems and where and how to find relief,
Third, how to help others, in an individual way and globally.
I’ll highlight self-care, empathy and shifting perspectives for shifting circumstances.
If possible, I would like to have an open discussion period where attendees could share tips and offer resources after the presentations.
