This session offers a toolkit for aspiring remote interpreters, packed with practical information on how to get started: how does remote interpreting work, what tools and equipment are required, settings and contexts of application. We will compare the most popular online platforms in terms of work environment, usability, and technical support.

By analysing and weighing the pros and cons of different scenarios, participants will get a better idea of what they need to start out and succeed as remote interpreters. To conclude, we will deep dive into the “dark side” of remote interpreting and reflect upon some critical but necessary questions regarding the (not so) remote future of our profession.
