Many translation professionals have adopted different kinds of tools that increase their efficiency. However, not many know about the innovations that are waiting around the corner.
The main focus in translation technology research for a long time has been Neural Machine Translation (NMT). In this presentation we will discuss why it has had such a significant impact on the quality of MT.
Everyone has heard about MT, but not many know about automatic post-editing. Should those who have adopted post-editing still be afraid to be left out of the picture again? Are the machines going to post-edit after themselves? Another popular research topic is MT quality estimation, a method for automatically establishing the quality of MT output without the need for human assessment. Can it be useful for translators and translation companies?
Other techniques such as interactive MT and adaptive MT aim at combining the infirmation from post-editing activity to adjust the MT output on the fly.
The most important part of the presentation will be a discussion with the audience: do you think all these tools will be helpful to you? What other technologies would you like to be developed?
