Sometimes translators have to create thorough, project-specific glossaries. They may be required for their own productivity-enhancing purposes, or they may be a requirement of their customers. The reason is that a good, relevant glossary can speed up a translator’s performance immensely. And we all want to work less and earn more, don’t we?
However, creating glossaries by extracting terminology from source and target documents may seem like a daunting task to less experienced translation professionals because you need to know efficient tools and techniques of automating the terminology extraction procedure.
There are some pitfalls and difficulties along the way to an efficient process of extracting good term candidates with as less noise as possible and my presentation will enlighten the audience on how to avoid them as much as possible.
