BP18 Translation Conference is organized by B+B Mezzofanti Bt., a partnership registered in Budapest, Hungary (Registered seat: Széchenyi utca 8., Budapest 1054, Hungary; VAT ID: HU28523727), hereinafter referred to as the Organizer or ‘we’ or ‘us’.
The conference (‘Event‘) will take place over two days: on Thursday, 19 April 2018 and Friday, 20 April, 2018.
On Thursday the Event takes place at Gartenbaukino cinema, Parkring 12, Wien 1010, Austria, between 9:00 and 17:30. This day is covered by a 2-day pass that allows admission of one person to the event premises, all presentations held during the Event, as well as all catering during the Event, including buffet lunch and two coffee breaks.
On Friday the Event takes place at Hotel Marriott, Parkring 12a, Wien 1010, Austria, between 9:00 and 17:30. This day is covered by both a 2-day pass and a 1-day pass that allow admission of one person to the event premises, including all presentations held during the Event, as well as all catering during the Event, including a buffet lunch, and two coffee breaks.
Tickets for the Event will be available when announced on this website.
Related events are priced separately and are not included in the Event ticket. Such related events include sightseeing tours and day trips before and after the Event, as well as evening programs (particularly a ‘Welcome dinner’ on 18 April 2018, a ‘Gala dinner’ on 19 April 2018, and a ‘Farewell dinner’ on 20 April).
Tickets to the Event and such related events will be available online under the Registration tab of this website.
Prices of tickets and other items are listed without Value Added Tax (VAT).
For events taking place in Austria a 20% VAT is payable by all attendees, whether or not they are taxable persons. In practical terms this means that you’ll have to pay the VAT even if you have a valid VAT ID in another member state. The reverse charge mechanism for VAT payment is not applicable to services such cultural, entertainment, etc. event that can be attended with an admission ticket. See here (page 19, paragraph 9.1).
The good news is that you’re eligible for a VAT refund if you are a taxable person. Read section 7.3 on pages 15-16 here. Also read the official info here. You can apply for a refund through your home country’s tax authority if you’re based in the EU, or by filling in form U5 (in German) and sending it here by email or fax or snail mail, if you’re based outside the EU but you can prove your status as a taxable person.
Unfortunately you’re not eligible for a VAT return if you purchase your ticket as a private individual.
Registration for the Event is completed once the ticket price is paid in full.
As a payment option, you may choose between direct bank transfer, TransferWise, and PayPal / bank card. If you live in the EU, a direct bank transfer (SEPA transfer) may be the easiest/cheapest option. TransferWise is a cheaper alternative, but this option works only between currencies; i.e. only if your bank account is denominated in a currency other than Hungarian Forint. If you live outside the EU, PayPal / bank card may turn out to be cheaper. Please note that a 3.9% surcharge is applied to such payments to compensate for the service charges deducted by PayPal – but this is often less than what your bank would charge for a wire transfer.
If you choose to pay using your bank card (MasterCard or Visa), choose the PayPal option. In this case PayPal acts as a card processor intermediary, i.e. you don’t need to have a PayPal account to effect payment.
Bank details and other information to perform the wire transfer or TransferWise transfer will be provided in a confirmation email once you submit your order.
Due to local taxation regulations in force, you will receive up to three different types of documents with your purchase.
If you pay with your bank card or from your PayPal account, you will automatically receive an ‘order receipt‘: this is basically an email to acknowledge your order. A ‘deposit invoice‘ will be sent automatically from our invoicing system. This deposit invoice is almost like an actual invoice, but since you will receive the purchased service only at a later time, the ‘final invoice’ cannot be dated earlier than the Event.
Note: Temporarily, until about 19 January 2018, you will first receive a ‘pro forma invoice’, to be sent out automatically. Once we receive our Austrian VAT ID, we’ll issue the above mentioned ‘deposit invoice’.
You will receive this final invoice after the Event. This final invoice will list all the purchased items with a positive sign, the amount already paid with a negative sign, as well as the final payable balance (i.e. zero).
If you pay via bank transfer or TransferWise, first you automatically receive an ‘order receipt‘: this is basically an email to acknowledge your order. A ‘pro forma invoice‘ will be sent automatically from our invoicing system. This pro forma invoice lists all the items purchased and indicates the bank account details where you send the purchase amount. The funds are supposed to arrive within 5 days. If the funds are not received within 7 days, you will receive a reminder. If the funds are not received within 14 days, your order will be cancelled.
Once the funds are credited on our bank account, you’ll receive a ‘deposit invoice‘ – this has to be processed manually. From this point on the process is identical with the one for bank cards / PayPal as described above.
Note: Temporarily, until about 19 January 2018, you receive your ‘deposit invoice’ only after we obtain our Austrian VAT ID.
Tickets purchased are eligible for a refund. The amount of refund is calculated on the basis of the amount actually paid for the services. A 100% refund (minus 35€ processing fee) is paid if the registration is cancelled before midnight on Monday, 5 March, 2018. A 50% refund (minus 35€ processing fee) is paid if the registration is cancelled before midnight on Monday, 9 April, 2018. No refund is paid after this date.
If you have to cancel your attendance due to an ungranted visa you’ll get a full refund (minus 35€ processing fee) if you cancel your registration before midnight on Monday, 9 April, 2018.
No refund is paid on the ‘BP16+BP17 videos’ item.
Allow up to 7 days to process refunds.
